چکیده
This study targets determining impellers of impeller-only axial fans with an optimal hub-to-tip ratio for the highest achievable total-to-static efficiency. Differently from other studies, a holistic approach is chosen. Firstly, complete class these considered. Secondly, radial distribution blade sweep angle, stagger chord length, and camber are varied to adapt blades complex flow in hub tip regions. The tool being used optimization scheme three key components: (i) database created beforehand by Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS)-predicted performance characteristics 14,000 designs, (ii) artificial neural network as metamodel fan function 26 geometrical parameters, (iii) evolutionary algorithm optimization, performed on metamodel. Typically, ratios proposed smaller than those obtained applying classic design rules. A second outcome shapes blades, which adapted minimum exit loss. These deviate substantially even state-of-the-art “swept-only” or “swept dihedral” designs. stagger, angle distributed manner. inherent reason that tries minimize not only dynamic loss but also frictional losses due secondary flows regions, eventually results maximum Upon request, authors will provide full geometry four analysed some detail this any individual experimental validation further analysis their performance.

Shape Optimization of Impeller Blades for a Bidirectional Axial Flow Pump using Polynomial Surrogate Model
This paper describes the shape optimization of impeller blades for a anti-heeling bidirectional axial flow pump used in ships. In general, a bidirectional axial pump has an efficiency much lower than the classical unidirectional pump because of the symmetry of the blade type. In this paper, by focusing on a pump impeller, the shape of blades is redesigned to reach a higher efficiency in a bidir...

SUMMARY This paper outlines the importance of tip leakage flows in axial fans as a source of loss and relates the dimensionless loss analytically to a range of dimensionless parameters by application of a jet loss theory due to Rains. Improved vortex shedding models are also presented. From these models theoretical predictions of lift coefficient reduction are compared with published experiment...
